After beginning hormone treatment, PSA levels are measured once again. Following treatment, PSA levels are expected to drop to 0. If PSA levels rise while a patient is on antiandrogens, the cancer is considered to be at the beginning of Advanced Disease. At this time, it is recommended that the patient consult with a medical oncologist for options regarding chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Luckily, the greatest advances in prostate cancer research have been made in treating Advanced Disease so there will be several treatment options.
